Your Braeside Beacon (Jun 2024)

The school year's nearly over, and we can almost smell the freedom of the summer break. Students are buzzing like bees; teachers are getting ready to mothball another year’s hard work and parents are plotting summer escapes. We all relish a respite from the daily routine. Summer, we’re ready for you!

This is the perfect time to get your hands dirty and start planting. Whether you're a seasoned green thumb or a greenhorn, Calgary’s tricky climate, especially during droughts, can be a challenge. These tips should help your garden bloom: Be YardSmart (calgary.ca)

Get ready for a delicious new addition to our community with the launch of a farmers market at the community centre. Fresh Food Fridays kick off this month on June 14th from 3-7pm, celebrating the journey from farm to fork with locally sourced produce and goods. Every week, local artisans will bring fresh produce, handmade goods, and delightful treats to our doorstep.

Here's to a season of growth, connection, and fresh beginnings!

Cultivating a Bright Future for our Community

Jenny Mae with our survey sign

Your Survey, Your Say!

The Community Association has the potential to make a big impact on our facilities, programming & green spaces. By completing your survey before June 21st (yes, we've extended it!), you are able to share what's important to you & your family, and what you'd like to see Braeside become. Tell us what matters to you, what doesn’t, and why. This is your chance to shape the future of our community – don't miss out on being a part of it!

You can find the survey here, or stop by the community association for a paper copy before June 21st.

Bin It to Win It

Last weekend, our community came together for a litter pick-up that was a huge success. Residents of all ages donned gloves and wielded trash bags to clean up our streets and parks, covering all 24 mapped areas. No spot was left untouched. By the end of the day, we had collected several bags of trash, leaving our community looking cleaner and more beautiful than ever. A big thank you to Paul for organizing the event and to the kind sponsors who provided prizes for the participants.
