Howdy Neighbor!
From our Board of Directors, staff, and resource team - everyone is committed to ensuring that Braeside remains a thriving, welcoming, and vibrant community for all residents.
Our Board of Directors
Here are the people elected by the community to represent and serve the strategic management of Braeside. Their key roles include budgeting, infrastructure, communication, and neighborhood events!

President
Jenny Mae
The BCA's President since January 2023 and a resident of Braeside since the summer of 2014. She was called to step into community service during the pandemic, when feelings of isolation and the desire for connection became very important to her. She lives with her 13 year old son and they both love to together travelling & spend time with the ones they love!

Vice President
Catherine
I moved to Braeside with my family in 2012, and we’ve been loving it ever since! We’re huge fans of the green spaces and parks. When the temperatures drop, you’ll find us enjoying the rink though my skating skills are a work in progress. I enjoy being part of community events and don’t mind rolling up my sleeves to help make them happen. I decided to volunteer to build connections and show my kids the value of pitching in and being involved in the community. I’ve mastered the art of growing weeds in my community garden plot so now I’m hoping to learn how to tell a weed from something actually edible! Thankfully, the gardening committee’s expertise is there to guide me.

Social Media
Matthew
I have lived in Braeside for 15 years. My kids attended the Before and After School Care at the BCA. I love this community and want to help promote it. I have a passion for sustainable and reliable initiatives to improve the lives of those around me. That is why I started helping out in the garden revitalization project. Environmental stewardship is a passion of mine so that when my kids have children of their own, they can come and sit in the same green spaces they grew up in. I enjoy biking, hiking, canoeing at the Glenmore Reservoir, and taking our dogs out in the community.

Parks & Green Spaces
Jim
A product leader for a large fertilizer company with an interest in community level green space and sustainability improvement projects. The peace and quiet Jim experiences when walking through natural landscapes sparked his interest in preserving ecosystems and the idea to create one for the community. His goal is to improve the micro-environment for growing vegetables and create a natural sanctuary for community members to enjoy and improve their wellbeing. Jim is a member of the International Society of Sustainability Professionals with a Sustainability Excellence Associate accreditation. I've lived in Braeside coming up on 15 years and initiated the BCA urban ecosystem product in 2023. I decided to serve on the Board starting in 2024 to help realize the vision to develop Braeside parks and green spaces into a connected series of unique environmental experiences. I'm a product leader for a large fertilizer company with an interest in community level green space and sustainability improvement projects. And as if that wasn't enough, Jim also enjoys hiking, cycling, ballroom dancing, and classic cars.

Governance
Jennifer
Proud to be raising her family of six (plus a big dog!) in Braeside. She is an entrepreneur and a life-long learner who loves a good novel and coffee chats. Grassroots change and community engagement is where my heart is! I love to work with organizations on policy, bylaws, and engagement strategy to make communities resilient and connected. I own Better World Consulting and get to work with incredible values-driven clients. I have lived in Braeside for almost 7 years. I knew right away Braeside would be my forever home and decided to join to communtiy association to support making this is the best place to raise my family. Now, a few years later, I have held held multiple volunteer positions at the BCA, including Transportation Committee Lead, Vice President, President, and currently Governance Director. I led the BCA through challenging COVID lockdowns and oversaw the recent comprehensive bylaw review. I love to get outside whenever I can I am often wandering around Fish Creek Park with my dog, or in the mountains when I can find time. On cold days I am more likely to be in a yoga class or writing at a cozy coffee shop.

Director of Operations
Gail
I've been proud to call Braeside home for nearly five years. I absolutely love our pathways, greenspaces, and the dog park—these features drew me to this amazing community. One of the highlights of living here is the friendliness of our residents. There’s nothing better than walking through the neighborhood and being greeted with smiles and hellos. Since joining the community centre I’ve met so many wonderful people, heard inspiring stories, and formed lasting connections. I truly treasure these interactions and love getting to know my neighbors.
